Funeral Services Held For Carlos A. Zahn

Funeral services were held for Carlos A. Zahn, 53, Thursday morning, at the Plainsburg cemetery, with Rev. W. J. Lee officiating. It is believed Zahn committed suicide Saturday by inhaling motor exhaust gas. His body was found Tuesday morning on the old Waltz ranch on the Mariposa-Merced line by cattlemen, culminating a statewide search for him.

Search was started for Zahn Saturday when he failed to appear for Community Day program duties here and following the receipt of a letter by his wife stating that his body could be found in the car parked near Bear Creek. The letter was mailed in Chowchilla where he had gone to receive treatment for asthma. It is believed that ill health was the motive for his act.

Zahn was the section foreman in this locality and had many friends who were shocked to hear of his fate. Born in Germany Zahn had lived in Le Grand the past 15 years. He leaves his widow, Nora E. Zahn, three daughters, Henrietta, Lillian and Alameda; and one son, William, of Mare Island.
