Mrs. Augusta Acker
Dies Tueday Morning
Mrs. Augusta Christina Acker, aged 89 years 6 months passed away Tuesday
morning at the home of her son, Bert Acker, deputy fire warden for the Los
Banos district. She had been gradually failing in health for some time.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Davis
Funeral Chapel, Rev. H. F. Beaver officiating. Interment was made in the Los
Banos cemetery.
Pallbearers were E. W. Thiercof, Chas. Smith, Frank Arburua, Lewis Hulen, R.
H. McSwain and B. A. Wilson.
She is survived by three sons, Edward and Bert Acker of Los Banos and Smith
Acker, Merced county auditor; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Hosford and Mrs. Tilla
Rudolph, both of Washington, D. C., ten grandchildren and five great
grandchildren.
Mrs. Acker was born at Patterson, N. J., being one of seven sisters. The
family moved to Utica, N. Y., and then to Monticello, Iowa, where she was
married to Chas. D. Acker in 1870. Then moved to Kansas City where he operated
a business for several years, moving to Oakdale in 1882 and the following year
to Los Banos, where Mr. Acker operated a ranch here until his death in 1917.
