MARY VICTORINO AZEVEDO CALLED BY DEATH
With members of her family gathered at her bedside, Mary Victorino Azevedo
passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. S. Balthazar in Gustine,
early last Thursday morning.
Mrs. Azevedo was widely known on the West Side where she had resided for the
past sixteen years, the last four years here with her daughter. She had many
friends who deeply regret her passing.
Deceased was a native of the Azores and was 76 years old at the time of her
death. She was the widow of the late Manuel Victorino Azevedo, well-known
dairyman of this section. Surviving her are the following sons and daughters;
Mrs. Angelina Borges of Lemoore, Manuel Victorino of Watsonville, Mrs. Mamie
Madeiros of Newman, Mrs. John V. Azevedo of Gustine, Mrs. Ellen Balthazar of
Gustine, Mrs. Anna Dias of Salinas, and Mrs. Rose Azevedo of Gustine.
Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the Davis Funeral Chapel in
Newman, thence to Holy Ghost church in Gustine, where mass for the repose of
her soul was offered by Father Herman Hammerstein. Interment was at Newman
Catholic cemetery.
