W. CARDWELL PASSES ON MONDAY
Funeral services were held at the Le Grand Community Church on Wednesday afternoon for Walter Cardwell, 79, who had for fifty three years lived in the Le Grand and Plainsburg districts. He died at the General hospital in Merced on Monday, after an illness of many weeks.
The deceased was born in Arkansas. He came to this section when a young man and taught school for many years.
Services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Lee. Burial was at the Plainsburg cemetery. Yost and Webb of Fresno, were in charge of arrangements.
Cardwell is survived by a brother Wilson of Arkansas, a sister-in-law Mrs. Lennie Cardwell of Le Grand; four nephews, Clyde Y. Wilson of Modesto; J. E. Cardwell of Bakersfield and Carl and M. G. Cardwell both of Arkansas, two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Werff of Kentucky and Mrs. Blane Houston of Ohio; and 11 other relatives residing in California and eastern states.
