GILROY, LOCAL RANCHER, DIES

Theodore Gilroy, 77, widely known sheep man and ranch manager, died this morning at his home at 348 Fifteenth following a long illness. Mass will be held at 10 Saturday morning at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery in charge of Ivers and Alcorn.

Gilroy was born Jan. 1, 1856 in the town of Gilroy, founded by his grandparents. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Neofito Gilroy.

In Merced county he was ranch manager for C. C. Smith but had been inactive several years on account of illness.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ada Gilroy of Merced; five sons and daughters; Gloria Gilroy, Lawrence Gilroy, Mrs. Frank Sanchez and Mrs. Henrietta Lopez of Merced, Mrs. C.F. Fainter of Modesto; and a brother Henry Gilroy of Oakland.
