WELL-KNOWN FARMER CALLED BY DEATH
John J. Gray, a well-known Merced county farmer, passed away at the local hospital early Thursday morning following an illness of several weeks.
Mr. Gray was a native of Nova Scotia and was aged 65 years. He came to Merced county about forty years ago, during the greater portion of which period he was engaged in farming, with marked success. He was well-known and enjoyed the respect and esteem of a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
Surviving relatives are his sister, Miss Hannah, and a niece, Miss Ethel Gray, who lived with him at his home near this city, and a nephew, Jack Gray, of Oakland.
Rev. J. S. Stubblefield will officiate at the funeral services, which will be held at the chapel of Welch & Griffin this afternoon at 2 o'clock. The services at the Asphodel vault, will be under the auspices of Merced Camp No. 352, Woodmen of the World.
