R. KAEHLER DIES IN
SAN FRANCISCO

Reinhold H. G. Kaehler, a well-known former Merced business man, passed away in San Francisco Tuesday after several months of failing health. Funeral services were held in Gray’s funeral parlors in that city yesterday morning, the services being conducted by officers of the San Francisco Lodge of Elks at the request of the Merced Lodge, of which he had been a member for many years.

Mr. Kaehler was born in Kiel, Germany, June 9, 1862. With his parents and his two brothers he came to California in the early eighties, and in 1888 he and his brother, George came to Merced and established a wholesale and retail liquor business which he conducted continuously, with the exception of about two years, until the national prohibition law became effective. Since then he had made his home in San Francisco, making frequent visits to Merced to look after his extensive property interests here. He was an enterprising citizen, fair and honest in his dealings, and commanded the respect of all with whom he came in contact. He leaves two sons, Ronald and Norman Kaehler, both residents of San Francisco, and two grandchildren. His parents died in this city many years ago, and his brothers, George and Max, have also passed away.
