Mrs. M. McCarthy Dies At Oakland

Mrs. Mary C. McCarthy, age 59, died suddenly from a heart attack Wednesday morning in Oakland. Mrs. McCarthy was the widow of the late John D. McCarthy, former prominent Los Banos business man; and a sister of Mrs. E. W. Thiercof of this city.

Besides her sister, Mrs. Thiercof, she leaves three brothers, Thomas J. Maher of Merced, Will Maher of San Francisco and James F. Maher of Mentone, Calif., and the following children all of Oakland: Sister Frances Rafael ( Mary McCarthy ) of Holy Names Academy, Kathleen McCarthy, Mrs. Edw. Horwinski, Mrs. John B. Brennan, Mrs. Robert Maginnis, Elizabeth McCarthy Jr. and Joseph McCarthy.

Funeral services will be at Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel, Oakland, at 9 a.m. today, Friday.

The McCarthy family lived in Los Banos for many years before moving to Oakland about 1911, where they have since resided. They still retain two dairy ranches and other farming property near this city, where they have many friends, especially among the older residents.

In addition to his agricultural interests, Mr. McCarthy operated a livery stable here for several years and was at one time mayor of this city.
