R. A. MEEHAN DEAD AFTER LONG ILLNESS
R. A. Meehan died at his home on Twenty-third street at 8:40 this morning after an illness which had extended over the past two years. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10:30 o'clock at the chapel of Welch & Griffin, under the auspices of the local lodges of Odd Fellows and Masons, of both of which deceased was a member. The body will be cremated at the Parkview crematory near Stockton.
Richard Andrew Meehan was born in Stockton January 15, 1863; and was therefore in his fifty-ninth year. He was the son of Dennis and Mary Meehan. He was married December 19, 1886, to Margaret Shine, the widow who survives him.
Mr. Meehan was night policeman in Merced for six years up to 1900, when he was made city marshall. After four years service in this office, he was again night officer up until three years ago.
Relatives from away who are here for the funeral are William Shine and wife, Andrew Shine, Mrs. Edna Capella and baby daughter and Mrs. Lois Price, all of Sonora, and Miss M. G. Meehan, D. L. Plummer and Mr. and Mrs. Elton Shine of Stockton.
All friends are invited to attend the funeral services. It is requested that flowers be omitted.
