Death of Mrs. Olcese

Mrs. Margaret Olcese, mother of John B. Olcese of Merced, and well known in this city, died at her home in Oakland last Sunday, succumbing to the effects of an operation.

Mrs. Olcese, who was the widow of late Andrew Olcese, was a pioneer resident of this State, In company with her late husband she settled at Hornitos, Mariposa county in 1857. In 1886 the couple moved to Oakland, where she had resided ever since. Mrs. Olcese was a native of Italy, where she was born seventy-two years ago. She came to the United States in 1856.
She is survived by the following children; John B. Olcese of Merced, Frank Olcese of Hornitos, Mariposa county; Louis V. Olcese of Bakersfield, Victor, Andrew and Margaret Olcese of Oakland, Mrs. F. C. Stokes of San Leandro and Mrs. J. B. Cauzza of Bakersfield.

The funeral took place Tuesday morning from St. Francis de Sales church, Oakland, where a requiem mass for the repose of her soul was said. Interment was at St. Mary's cemetery, Oakland.
