MRS. PILGER IS CALLED BY DEATH

Mrs. Elizabeth Pilger, for more than thirty years a highly respected resident of this county, passed away at her home in Deane Colony last Saturday night, death being due to the infirmities incident to advanced age.

Funeral services, at which Rev. W.A. Cash of St. Luke's Episcopal Church officiated, were held Monday morning in the Welch & Griffin chapel, and the remains were taken to Fresno for interment.

Mrs. Pilger was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, January 14, 1843, and had resided in California for thirty-two years. Her husband, the late Frederick W. Pilger, who was a well-known Merced county farmer, died in 1921. she leaves a son, John Pilger of Deane Colony, and a daughter, Mrs. Laura E. Jeffrey, who is also a resident of this county. A sister and brother in Pennsylvania.
