   CHOWCHILLA  -- Alice R. Small, a homemaker who served many years in the El Nido PTA while her children were in school, died Friday at her daughter's home in Merced.  She was 64.
   Mrs. Small was born in Chowchilla.  She attended Alamo Grammar School, El Nido Elementary School and Merced High School.  She was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, where, according to her family, she served tirelessly and loved to sing.
   Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Brown of Fresno and Cheryl Thornhill of Merced; a son, Jerry Brown of Chowchilla; four sisters, Margaret Cotta and Clementine Marks, both of El Nido, Mary Crowley of Atwater and Josephine Seibert of Modesto; four brothers, John, Frank, and Joe Mello, all of El Nido and Tony Mellow of Paradise Island; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
   Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. today at Worden Funeral Chapel in Chowchilla.
   Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Truman  Huddleston presiding.  Burial will be in Chowchilla District Cemetery.
