RETIRED MERCED RANCHER, DIES

MERCED (Merced Co.) Dec. 3.

Charles R. Berry, 74, retired Le Grand District rancher, died at his home last night following an attack of pneumonia. the body is at the Welch and Griffin Funeral Parlors where burial services will be held at 1 o’clock Monday afternoon with interment to follow in Plainsburg Cemetery.

Berry was a native of Georgia and had lived in California for sixty eight years, having ranched in this county for the last half century.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elva Jane Berry; two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Proctor, of Long Beach, and Mrs. Lucille Frisbie of Oakland; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Grace Pepper, of Susanville; Mrs. Laura Farnell of Le Grand; Mrs. Emma Alvord of Le Grand, and Mrs. Jennie Wass of Le Grand; and two stepsons, Ned Earl of Le Grand, and Jay Earl of Berkeley. Fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren are left.
